First of all, I'm not a ebike specialist, this is my first e bike. Ive put about 600 miles on the bike since I got it, and the only problem I've had, were noisy brakes, which I fixed by sanding the pads a bit. Ive learn a lot about bikes by going on tube. Battery fire was talked at lot about, which made me nervous, and did what I had to do to keep it safe. One guy said when looking at buy a bike on line was, check with local bike shops, to see if they can be serviced locally. Smart, I haven't done that yet. He also said to make sure its UL2849 or UL2271 certified. This bike, the Dremax has no indication that it is. I wrote the company and asked, after a number of song and dance letters back and forth, the answer is no, it's not. Does this mean its a fire trap, no it doesn't, it just means its not independently tested.. Knowing what I know now, I think I would have look local for a bike, and payed the few bucks more. Anyways, I enjoy my bike, hope this helps some of you, take care.
